Hosting Silvana Kulla, a brave new way of doing business as a Womanpreneur!
April 20, was a special evening for our community at Startup Grind Tirana, as we hosted Silvana Kulla, founder of Si-Mac Group.
In 2006, Silvana started bringing a wave of innovation in the industry of wood and glass manufacturing, by founding Si-Mac Group. Si-Mac consists in the sale of this technology, their maintenance and consultancy for branch expansion and staff training. Yesterday, she came to Startup Grind Tirana to share this journey with us.
Silvana took us on her entrepreneurship and personal development journey. Her first entrepreneurship sparkles started when she was a student in Australia. Inspired by one of the local fast food places, she shared with them a strategic idea that could boost their business. This idea resulted in the successful sale of donuts.
Afterwards, Silvana decided to continue her studies in Italy which became her second home, as she still commutes between Italy and Albania. But she knew that she wanted to make an impact on the Albanian market and boost it. Thus, Si-Mac was founded.
Despite being officially founded in 2006, Silvana said that she spent two whole years prior to it’s launch, researching the market, industry and gathering all the needed information to make this innovation right and impactful.
Silvana is a Womanpreneur in an industry dominated by men. She told us how only one of her customers is a woman, while the rest are all men. Despite the challenges that the gender gap might bring, Silvana said that she likes working with the opposite gender, because men are always supportive if a women is ready to make a change in business. She has never seen this as an obstacle, rather as a self-improvement journey.
Silvana has been part of many different trainings in sales, marketing, management and leadership, in different countries such as USA, London, Amsterdam, of trainers like Brian Tracy and Tony Robbins.
She said that the best investment one can make for themselves is to focus on personal development. Being trained in this aspect, will give you all the energy and confidence needed to succeed and achieve your goals.
During the interview, we asked Silvana if there were any dreams still left on her drawer. She said that one of her dreams is to pursue a MBA, which is a must for entrepreneurs, and when retired she would like to sell all of her assets and open a hotel by a flowing river, where she would host all the influencing people she met during her long entrepreneurship journey.
